Tai Chi

The soft art of Tai Chi (sometimes spelled Taiji) is commonly practiced today for
purposes of health, longevity and stress management, but is still regarded as an
effective martial art by traditionalists. Some of the routines the students will practice
include meditation, qigong exercises, moderate stretching, and gentle sequences
called forms. The slow no impact movements of Tai Chi increase and open breath,
blood, lymphatic and digestive circulation, as well as, lowering blood pressure, and
improving balance, mobility and posture.

Journal of American Geriatrics Society states Tai Chi may help elderly people stave off
age related breathing problems, reduce body fat and increase spinal flexibility.

Arthritis Foundation recommends Tai Chi for people with arthritis.

Harvard/Yale study determined Tai Chi reduced the risk of fall injuries by 48%.
(complications from these injuries are the 6th leading cause of death in older
Americans.)

American Chiropractic Association recommended Tai Chi as benificial strength
training for people suffering from osteoporosis.

British Medical Association found Tai Chi could help heart attack victims recover faster.

American Journal of Medicine published Tai Chi may have a measurable impact on
patients with chronic heart failure.

Annals of Behavioral Medicine found Tai Chi could increase immunity, reduce stress,
alleviate gastric problems and hypertension.
